Azerbaijani FM to meet with Armenian counterpart in coming weeks

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said he will meet with his Armenian counterpart in the coming weeks.

Speaking at a meeting with his Turkish and Turkmen counterparts in the Turkmen city of Awaza, Bayramov noted that the elimination of the grave consequences of the 30-year occupation after the end of the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the safe and dignified return of Azerbaijani citizens expelled from their lands is the essential priority for Azerbaijan.

Bayramov stressed that the contamination of territories with mines and other explosives is the most serious obstacle to restoration and construction work.

"Azerbaijan firmly intends to build bilateral relations with Armenia on the basis of mutual recognition and respect for each other's sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of borders, to replace the conflict with mutually beneficial cooperation and normal neighborhood relations. To this end, it is planned to hold another meeting for discussions between the foreign ministers of the two countries in the coming weeks," he added.
